The 89 was a Neo stronghold from the fall of 1984(with the advent of 1984 Neo BP transits 1301-1325). In 1993, The 89 was extended through North Philadelphia(taking the former 57 routing-Jefferson/Master). The line was split with Frankford. Luzerne used 3000-3116 or 1301-1325 on the 89(The 89 may have used 8624-8670 as well, these were the Germantown buses re assigned to Luzerne, 8601-8623 went to Allegheny).

The Frankford share of the 89 used exclusively 1983 Neo BD transits 8435-8561(the 89 may have used 8773-8779, for these buses were re-assigned from Southern to Frankford).

In 1997, the 89 went all Midvale, using an assortment of Neos assigned to Midvale.

In 2001, Eldroados started to show up on the 89. With the advent of the New Flyers, NABIs started showing up on the 89 & now New Flyers(I suppose it has to do with what's available during "load line."

The 89 is a neighborhood feeder line connnecting Frankford, Junianta, Kensington, Richmond & Fishtown with Aramingo Avenue & the Frankford Elevated.
