As for the remaining of the 1984 Neo BMs & 1985 Neo CDs(8601-8697 & 8726-8850) within the City Transit Division, SEPTA may have retired & disposed the remaining units associated within these two groups at the end of the school year in 2002. I beleive that around June 14 or June 21, 2002, the remnants were retired & disposed of. By 2002, ALL of the Neo BM & CD suburbans were retired & gone. I spotted 8705 & 8852(assigned to Southern) on the C, Cheltenham division, on Monday December 24, 2001 @ evening rush hour. They may have been the very last two of the Neo BM & CD suburbans to ever operate. Southern had 8855 & 8856. Midvale had 8853 & 8854. Midvale let 8853 & 8854 go to the dogs. In their heydays, when the 8800 surburbans were assigned to Frontier(8851-8860, 8865-8875), many of these buses could & would top 70 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, perhaps outdoing the Neo EZ suburbans at that time. |
