In my opinion, Frankford & Southern really don't need them.
Midvale needs them the most, & if Midvale gets their batch, they'll be able to phase out more than half of their NABI fleet & I can kiss the 5000s from Callowhill that raidated over to Midvale goodbye.
If Southern gets their group, maybe they can do away with their 5300s.
If Southern & Frankford don't get their batches, Midvale would have 110 & that would completely rid them of NABIs, with 3 spare NF DE 41s & give the maintenance & mechanichal personnel something to look forward to coming to work for daily:
a. a new bus that doesn't need much fixing b. a new bus with the clean smell without the scratchitti.
My word, that would be awful, wouldn't it! i think Midvale has quite a few heavy hitter routes that need the larger capacity of the NABIs. I believe that's one of the reasons why the L has been using them almost exclusively during the weekdays. Actually Midvale will be getting their batch anyday now they haven't arrive just yet and when I was on the R5 on Friday as the train went passed it I seen a few NABI 416s outside of their garage they look like they are ready to be scrapped I'm assuming they will be junked and scrapped when the DE41LFs arrive in the garage.
