Last week of Thursday, i was rode on DART bus Route 6 on the NABI high foot, And the worst thing on the bus is about the back door, One person want to open the back door and person saying BACK DOOR! on the bus, The Bus Drivers should open the back door by itself, some of the Drivers are open by itself, Most of NABI low foot and newest Gillig low foot opens both doors, Geraldo G. Baltimore MTAs entire bus fleet except the Optimabus Opus' have the push type rear door that can only open if the passenger pushes the door. And some people do call out back door when the door is unlocked. Also for DART. If someone calls out back door and the door is open the driver should tell them to push the door on any NABI High floor or anything older then the NABI high floors. Since I do think the 99 Gillig Advantages have that same type of door. |

Basically DART does have a rule that drivers are not allowed to use cell phones while operating their vehicle. DART posted a reminder in an email alert since they are aware that drivers do use cell phones while operating their vehicle after many receipts of passenger complaints about them using cell phones. |

What the dispatcher should have done was either send a mechanic to Rodney Square or Christiana Mall with another bus as soon as possible and have passengers switch to the replacement bus. Then after everyone switches from the original bus to the replacement have the mechanic who drove the replacement bring the bus back to the depot and then have the rear door fixed and then keep it at the yard until either a run needs to pull out or if another bus needs to be swapped out due to mechanical problems. |

DARTs NABI Low Floors and newer have automatic rear doors. So the door opens as soon as the driver sets the handle to rear door open. The NABI 416s and older have the push tape on the door to press when the green light comes on. However. That tape did not work on the 95 Gilligs. Maybe the same with the 96 Gilligs. But the doors opening system is still seperate. When the handle is turned toward the rear of the coach. The rear door opens first. Then if they pull the handle all the way the front door then opens. If they push the handle toward the windshield. The front door opens first. And if they push the handle all the way the rear door opens second. Most transit buses have those type of door openers. Although 429s rear door once opened automatically the first time I rode it and the second time it did not. So I think the driver can set the rear door to open automatically on the NABI 416s and older. But Im not too sure. |

One complaint about DARTs opeation. My last visit to Wilmington DE in January. I got cut off by a NABI 40LFW on King Street right by Rodney Square. The driver. He was holding a cell phone with his left hand while driving with his right hand. And according to DARTs email alert back in April drivers are not to be using cell phones while operating their vehicle. But many disobey that rule and do it anyway. |

My second visit to Wilmington I think it was on 508 on the 15. We arrive to Christiana Mall. The driver announces that the bus is switching to a 5. Then shortly after it changed from a 5 to Not In Service but I was off the bus then. I dont know why that happened. The time the card scanner didnt work that time. They could have either kept it not working and have passengers show their passes. Or DART could have sent a mechanic out to look at it on layover. Rabbit Transit sent mechanics to look at malfunctioned fare boxes at the Transfer Center a few times.
