I was looking at one of Trevor Logans pics of 5201. From looking at the drivers area through the windshield as the bus was in a main shop. From the shape of the driver seat on these new NABIs. They do infact have Recaro Ergo M. Once I get 5-10 years experinece if I get hired at SEPTA I may look into working for NJT. |

Yet more issues, this time with frames...and perhaps they will get Cummins instead of the CAT C9. http://www.subchat.com/buschat/read.asp?Id=119835 |

From what I read on TransiTalk the NABIs will not be arriving afterall. But Im glad to hear they will be arriving. NJT is in worse need for new buses then Baltimore MTA. And currently NJT is running non accessible buses. Unlike Baltimore who retired them without replacements making more people angry as they are stranded on bus stops with a crime rate soo high and police never properly enforcing the law. The rate things are going Transit wise I may be instead of getting a CDL to drive a Transit bus I may be better off getting an engineers license and drive for Amtrak, MARC, LIRR, or Metro North Railroad. I dont know about operating for NJT. |

You can blame all of that on a bad economy. TA's can't afford new buses, bus manufacturers are now becoming more expensive because of resources becoming more expensive. It is a corporate/political thing. Now watch, TA's are now being urged to buy American. That's why Port Authority had to go with Gillig, but at least larger TA's can go with companies like Orion or NABI or New Flyer, because technically they are not American companies. The only American manufacturers out are Millenium, Gillig and El Dorado, and GOD FORBID we see an El Dorado in NJT livery. LOL!!! Now Baltimore MTA should look into ordering from Gillig, but NJT orders high-floor buses. They should have bidded with Orion, or NJT should just give up and go with low-floor buses, but I see with the heavy duty work that NJT puts these buses through, they need high-floor buses, so hopefully NABI can fix these buses. To be honest, I wish SEPTA would have purchased 35' Gillig Advantages. They would be good for the city and suburbs. |

ED77KATR and FRONT5151 I am sorry about hearing about the difficulties you have with nabi's I am a nabi fan because of the appearence of the bus outside and inside and the engines and seats. I like the extra large dashboard. I hate to have everything crammed into one little space. BUT ONE THING I do not like is the streering. Riding a nabi on the 70 everyday Coming off of 10th and going on to Godfrey avenue is a mess. The bus has a WIDE turning radius and I would hate to see what the Nabi 436 would do (YIKES). Kyle W. |

If gas prices continue to go down that should hopefully be able to fix the economy. The main reason we have as bad of an economy as we have is high crude oil prices. Gas and diesel prices go up from it. Then Delivery companies have to raise surcharges and following that retail prices go up. As many have to cut spending. Only spend on items they need. And start purchasing smaller vehicles and/or driving less the state governments and the Federal governments are not earning as much money in gas tax and sales tax. Which is why many states are suffering from the economic crisis. And some retailers are suffering to. Like Starbucks. They announced they would be closing 600 locations but I dont know if thats still official. Best Buy had to cut employees hours. And the state of Maryland. Governor O Malley is proposing a 6 day furlough for state employees but its not official yet. |

This has gone a lil bit off topic, but I spent 4 years in the army, YOU CANNOT ARGUE WITH ME ON WHY THE ECONOMY IS BAD, IT IS NOT JUST OIL!!! It also has a lot to do with the rich stealing from the poor!!! You can't see that? For instance, look at the CEO of Nike. He has his jobs sent overseas so America won't have to tax him and so he won't have to pay about $10.00 an hour to make an Air Force I (my favorite shoe) so he sends the jobs over in Indonesia to where he can pay those poor people $.15 a day and so he can make a hell of a profit off of it!!! You need to read between the lines, why do you think Enron folded? Why do you think a lot of these other corporate companies are folding? Sending American jobs overseas, so they won't be taxed, charge American citizens so much $$$ and tax the hell out of it so these CEO's can get all of the $$$ and rob us blind and it puts a strain on other companies, which is why I think it is one of the reasons Neoplan USA folded!!!! I am 25 and been around the block man, you really don't know what I know. |

As far as I know Baltimore MTA is due for 130 new buses starting in January. January New Flyer DE60LF(R)s are due to arrive. And starting in April an order piggybacked off of WMATA of DE40LF(R)s are due to arrive also. MTA piggybacks off of the TA whos order is being built before them to save money. If NJT went to Low Floor buses they would be able to do the same thing. And I wouldnt mind if Maryland MTA got the bid from Gillig for new buses. My dream Roster for Bmore MTA includes 120 Gillig Phantoms from 03-07. With 40 in 06. 20 with a transit interior 20 with a Suburban interior. And the 03-05 and 07 Gilligs would all have the Transit Interior. The rate things are going with NJT they may be completely eliminated. They do not want to purchase new buses ever again. And not to mention it may not be long until they are forced to retire the Flxible Metro Bs. And if they do not purchase new buses soon. Service will be missing. I thought Bmore MTA was bad but NJT is way worse then MTA. Edited by Nabi60SFW9620, Oct 27 2008, 08:49 AM.

I was looking on TTMG that NABI cancelled the order for NJT. I wish NJT would consider purchasing Low Floors and piggyback off of the order that was built prior to them to make the cost cheaper. |

I do hope so. We do not want New Jersey Transit being as dumb as the Maryland Transit Administration. But some sources can claim one thing and its not the case. Like Baltimore MTA. At first as soon as we found out they did not order New Flyer 30ft buses we thought that there would be no more 30fts. But turns out the 30fts were bidded by Optimabus. So hopefully NJTs NABIs will arrive completely. |

I dont like Septa specs for the nabi. nabi makes a good bus septa just was not fortunate enough to get any and remember these buses was used in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics the first 30 or 40 before septa decided to buy them. the buses in LA. and now DC. are very nice and septa will find its way back to nabi I find it hard to believe that the whole fleet would be newflyer septa needs a bus with some type of curb appeal that makes people want to ride the bus just because. |

I have ridden many NABI 436s and they turn just as good as the 416s. But I like the 2001 and newer Neoplan AN460HF better since its a few inches longer then the NABI 436 and mainly sported a DDC Series 60 engine. Which I wish SEPTA waited until 01 or 02 to purchase the AN460HFs so they could have Series 60.

NJTs current Delivery of NABIs are the 416 with the new end caps. I do believe they will be CAT C9 engines with ZF Transmissions. |
