I think it the engine is cummins ISL or ISB and the hybrid system is GM-Allison EP40 or ISE Corporation ThunderVolt.

Had a chance of seeing 8124, 8127, and 8129 with several others at Germantown depot earlier today. It appears this order to moving more faster then expected. One other thing to notice is that they are also longer, it appears these are actually DE41LFs. Their length is really noticeable while looking at the left side of the bus. Also another interesting notice is their engine sounds is a bit different then your typical Cummins ISL Engine.

It will be interesting seeing where these buses will end up. Interestingly enough the hybrid which was on had a Midvale "31xx" block on it. Doesn't mean they will go to Midvale though, but just a thought...

Also anyone noticed the gray device above the front door in this shot?

That should be a security Camera above the door.

I got a suspicion that either SEPTA used the same USSC driver seats as 8000-8119 have. Or a Recaro Ergo M with no headrest. I do one year hope the state of PA requires newer buses to have a Recaro Ergo M equipped with a headrest and maybe a shoulder strap seatbelt. I dont know if NJTs new NABIs have shoulder strap seatbelts but I do believe they have Recaro Ergo M as the Flxibles have them and the MCIs have Ergo C which is the same as the Ergo M.

The DE41 is only available in LFR. Plus looking at the right it does not look like a 41ft. 8124 looks to be the standard 40ft size. Las Vegas CATs New Flyer hybrids are the DE41LFR. You can tell the difference between a 40ft and 41ft New Flyer. Bmore MTAs New Flyer D40LFs look longer then SEPTAs due to the Cummins ISM engine. And they are only an extra 6 or 7 inches to the length with ISM. And you can tell the difference. I do wish all New Flyer 40ft hybrids were 41ft instead of 40. Since that would make Bmore MTAs 09000s a few inches larger then the D40LFs.

Their appearence look alike to Septa's standard D40LF but the battery compartment is smaller than Septa's first generation Hybrid and the a/c is moved up front just look like NJT's NABI. Great report on the incoming of new buses coming in.

Belugas. Definitely Belugas.

Or Shurkles (Shark + Turtles)

Either way, They need cowling to cover up that ugly.

Well from looking at these units in person myself, these units does look longer then 40 foot! look at the back section of the bus! Its more notable from the left side! The change in length is more apparent viewing this bus from the left.

BTW, the extra 1 foot for a standard is mainly for units with the Cummins ISM added. I don't know the criteria for the hybrids though..

BTW you've mentioned that the extra foot or 7 inches is only available on the restyle buses. Well HSR operates the DE41LF and these units are in the standard design, not the redesign.

compared those units

Now compare it to the older hybrids

In conclusion, the rear of the bus on the HSR DE41LF looks similar to that on the 08' hybrids. On the older counterparts, the vent is aligned to towards the left, however, on 08's the vent is more of a equidistant fashion.

I saw 8121 and 8125 this morning going up Wissahickon Ave around 11:15, maybe heading for the Midvale Depot. The destination sign was on, saying "Training Bus". Also, I saw #5571 on the Rt. 65, headed to 69th St., around 6:15. It had a Callowhill block #.

The extra 7 inches is available on the old style also. Bmore MTAs are the extra 7" due to the Cummins ISM engine. Which I dont think Gilligs with ISM are larger in length. Or the Orion V. But I do sometimes suspect the interior may be smaller on NABI 416s with M11. Or it could also be the same as well. Many of Bmore MTAs NABI 416s feel smaller then 40ft when riding them. DARTs did not and 2 of SEPTAs Ive ridden did not either. And both DART and SEPTA have Series 50 on their NABI 416s. I did think the DE41LF was only available for the restyled but it looks to be a model that started in 2006. And hopefully the DE40LF will be discontinued soon so both Bmore MTA and WMATA can get DE41LFRs. Also it looks as that there is no symbol of an earth on the side of the driver seat on those Flyers. So it looks as that SEPTA may possibly have upgraded to headless Recaro Ergo Ms. I do wish they upgraded to headed Ergo Ms. But one year that may happen.
