I think the neos should run 100% of the 27 during the peak period and most of the time on the off peak hours, and the 65 must run with more artics than they run now. one time this september, I saw nothing but Newflyers on the 65 constantly. I thought it would face the same fate as the 9! I was not happy about that. We used to go to a church in Havertown several years ago by bus and riding an artic was a rare treat, since we took the full route from Germantown. If I am to ride it again, I want an AN460. if I MUST get a 40fter, I want a hybrid.
And 5806 needs to STOP STALKING ME!!!!

I agree with you on the 65, but why on the 27, That route is never crowded, except for one day in a blue moon (at least recently anyway) And when it is, it usually has an artic. The 65 is the busiest route I've ever seen!

Shows how much you ride on the 27. In the mornings and afternoons, the route 27 gets a fairly decent amount of people.

Not really. The 65 is one of the busiest, but it isn't the busiest. The 65 must compete for ridership patterns on the following routes:

C
6
14
17
23
33
42
47
52
60

Except for the C, the aforementioned routes have owl service.

6 could have used New flyers today. Allegheny does not know when to use artics and New flyers.

Two things have happened on 27 since the last schedule change. Headways have been decreased all day weekdays and 40' buses are pretty much the norm. Although I don't ride it much any more (I was a daily user for 19 years and still ride occasionally, but I see it all the time), between my observations and reports I get from daily riders, service is better. However, the delays that plague the line, from the too-long Center City portion to the Expressways (both Vine and Schuylkill) to Ridge Pike/suburban traffic, make it operate lousy. This is why I suggest that it should be a City Hall to Barren Hill route period.

Surprising the 440 (or whatever it is) that runs in the AM on Ridge Ave still gets an artic and is about half-full on a good day.

Well, according to the roster, there are 95 artics currently at Allegheny. Thats only 10 less than what Allegheny had before the New Flyers came (Remember they had 7101-7205?). That's more than enough aritcs so that the 6, 27, 33, 48, 54, 60, 65, would have artics on ALL of their runs. So if SEPTA wanted to keep artics on the 27 & 65, I'm pretty sure they would do so.

Only 10 less? After giving up 30 of them to Comly? How many artics did Allegheny take from Midvale, anyway?

They probably took 20 of Midvale's artics. we only have about 30, the same number as Comly's

Yep, only 10 artics less with 30 New Flyers buses!

Net Gain is 20.

Mind you it was reported on another thread that 10 of these buses are at different stages in their overhaul. Not to mention there could be a equal amount out of service due to other issues. So once this overhaul is completed, these artics may make a rapid come back onto the route(s) 65, and 27 again. Until then - Enjoy the new flyers!

Recently, the route 14 bus could be using 40 footers on a majority of it's runs, and The C, for some reason, doesn't use artics any more, and they need them! Only some runs on the 23 and 47 are busy.

You probably dont ride the 23 or 47 very often

The 23 & 47 are two of the four very busy routes coming out of South Philly (the other two being the 17 & C)

The 57 is a busy route, but not like the four previously mentioned

The C surely could use artics. The reason as to why the C doesn't get them involves tight schedules & the stop & go nature associated with Broad Street. A great deal of senior citizens use this line as well & that is self explanatory. Since 2003, the headways have been widened.

Keep in mind that the bulk of ridership on the C consists of people who reside in the heart of North Philadelphia who feed onto the line either in the nearby communities(Tioga, Fairhill, Yorktown or the nearby blocks on the line, or feed into the line by way of crosstown routes that cross Broad Street, particularly the 23 & 56(Eire), 60(Allegheny), 54(Lehigh/ North Philadelphia), 3(Columbia) & 15(Girard).

Even on the outer ends of both divisions(West Oak Lane for Cheltenham, Fern Rock & Logan for Nedro), many people ride the C for safety purposes.

Many of these people who ride the C feel & share the same concerns that I have about the Broad Street Line. The message is clear to me & to them, stay from underground. That is what the C is for.

Broad Street is full of traffic signals. The 2, 23, 47 & 57 only have to contend with stop signs, for the most part.

I love the C. I miss riding it. This is one route in which I don't mind riding a NABI(especially 5182, & where is this bus?)
