It was the last day of school last year for the SD OF PHILA, the 20th. The remaining of the 35 were all scrapped at midvale that day.

As for the remaining of the 1984 Neo BMs & 1985 Neo CDs(8601-8697 & 8726-8850) within the City Transit Division, SEPTA may have retired & disposed the remaining units associated within these two groups at the end of the school year in 2002. I beleive that around June 14 or June 21, 2002, the remnants were retired & disposed of. By 2002, ALL of the Neo BM & CD suburbans were retired & gone.

I spotted 8705 & 8852(assigned to Southern) on the C, Cheltenham division, on Monday December 24, 2001 @ evening rush hour. They may have been the very last two of the Neo BM & CD suburbans to ever operate.

Southern had 8855 & 8856. Midvale had 8853 & 8854. Midvale let 8853 & 8854 go to the dogs.

In their heydays, when the 8800 surburbans were assigned to Frontier(8851-8860, 8865-8875), many of these buses could & would top 70 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, perhaps outdoing the Neo EZ suburbans at that time.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but I've vaguely remember any Neoplans going over 56 MPH on the expressways. There were however a few exceptional units which did went over 60 MPH, but generally they were govern to 55 MPH.

Did most of them go out in 2000-2008?

Yes, the majority of the Neoplans were replaced by the New Flyers, although essentially every heavy duty bus order after the EZs were delivered (including the NABIs!) replaced Neoplans.

I remember that!!! Those POSes took out the AK and part of the BD Series, and the Legendary BeetleBombs.

The last one I rode was 3437.

They were all scrapped shortly after that.

In my opinion, the Neos with the suburban cushioned seats always felt so much cooler during the summer & much warmer during the winter, especially with the suburban 8800s that were assigned to Frontier division.

I could actually breathe fresh air on those buses.

Ride on, 8851-8875 in bus heaven.

I hated the transit style seats I slid in those with or without rain and to make matters worse I was not able to reach up and look out the windows. Of course this is when I was younger. The suburban seats were always torn up and patched with blue duct tape.

I just had a dream last Saturday night, I was watching TV and there is two Neoplan AN-440 Ak 8275 and 8411, One Neoplan AN-440 GNC, One GMC RTS 8283 and 12 of Neoplan An-440 CD series, after the buses stop at the front of my home there is a young man hoping on the bus and 15 of them are gone  . I miss those Suburban and Transit seats because I grow up of those Neoplans series :(
