I remember sliding around in the suburban Neo seats! Did that once on the 18 on a rainy day, was embarrassing sliding into people! :D RIP all Neo's.
I hated the transit style seats I slid in those with or without rain and to make matters worse I was not able to reach up and look out the windows. Of course this is when I was younger. The suburban seats were always torn up and patched with blue duct tape.
Heh, it was a rite of passage for me when I was able to easily look up over the bottom edge of the window when I was little. That and being able to reach up for that cord at the top of the window!

Those transit style seats were comfy (on the later Neos) because they had that tiny bit of padding that made it just right. They were MUCH better than the stainless steel stuff we got on the NABIs, artics, and Allison series New Flyers (outside of most of the hybrids).

Man, I miss those buses...almost 8 months since the last time I rode one... :(

I always liked the 3000-3485 set, but the 8285-8699 series door controls were on the right side which I thought was more convienent!

8285-8875 had the door control buttons on the right hand side by the fare box. In total, SEPTA received 650 Neoplans between the first quarter of 1983 through the spring of 1985 that had this feature.

Hopefully the Neoplan AN460 retires soon after the NABIs retires. ;)

Hopefully we get the NOVABus LFSA Artics as SEPTA's next order after the DE41LF order is complete. ;)

I'm gonna quote myself for this one:

http://nycbusworld.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=29 look familiar? :o

HEAVENS NO, SEPTA HAD TWO NOVA BUSES IN PHILLY, and it was both of the ugly ones LFS/LFX i don't wanna see any non-RTS novas in this area ever again. And besides, when i was in Ithaca, i rode one of those buses, and it was very uncomfortable because the way the bus is made is very foul and poorly designed

also, isn't this topic technically bumped since the last reply was in march? and that post was irrelevant?

I meant they should retire in 2012 when they are 12 years old, since now a days buses are suppose to retire at age of 12.

Alos I'm talking about SEPTA's.

Everyone can calm down, we all know unless something drastic happens, Septa is getting New Flyer's to replace the Neoplans. Case closed.

Well since SEPTA want more New Flyers then they will mostly likely get D60LF.

For some reason, I can't imagine SEPTA getting 60 foot New Flyer artics.

Do any of you think SEPTA will slowly begin to phase out the artics, increase scheduled headways on the busier routes & become an operation where all of their buses are 40 feet(41 feetfor the 2008, 2009 hybrids)?
