After several months, North Philadelphia station on the BSL is starting to look good. The head house on W Lehigh is about to be opened, and signs have been put up on the E Lehigh head house. The street has gotten an concrete and brick layered island in the middle of the Broad Street. Inside the station, it is getting an all black theme, The walls bordering the local tracks have been painted black from the middle down similiar to Erie and Race-Vine. and the concourse is looking good peeping in between the cracks in the wall bordering the construction zone. The drywall covering the the elevator shafts have been taken off yestertday and will be opened (once we get the elevators!)
I just wish the construction workers would put up the stainless steel ceiling like what 5th street station on the MFL has and stainless steel column covers and wall design resembling the tile platform floor like Oregon station. Lastly Logan is getting New tile floor work and wall work done. I can't wait to see the station completed as well as City Hall and Fairmount!

Crews started finished painting the columns on the platform. They only painted the columns black on the northbound platform.

Those islands are being put in up and down Broad St. I saw the ones at Wyoming Ave. today.

Good move.

I am confused with the painting of the collumns. Are these going to get tiles ever, or will they just be black, red, green, and blue? Everything seems so random with that station, color-wise.

Also, it seems like they are creating some entrances where you can only enter with your token or trans/trailpass. Very New York-ish! I guess these were formerly "Exit Only" portals.

I was told that "a lot of thought" went into the color scheme and if you look at it long enough, it will "make sense".

I'm not there yet.

I understand that statement very well. In my opinion, I think the station looks good in the black theme. The platform floor tiles match with the collumns and the walls on the local sides. But I don't think SEPTA will go back into the consideration to change the tiles on the concourse walls.

About time. That was a very quiet and lonely station.
