It looks like DART is getting 15 more Gillig Advantage hybrids. Does anyone know when they will be delivered and what numbering they will have?

Surprisingly hybrid-electric technology provides 50% better acceleration when starting from a stop or lower speed, because electric motors deliver more torque than internal combustion engines.

I sent DART an email. I do hope to get a reply back reguarding whether or not the article is reguarding the current hybrids or if DART is getting 15 more hybrids. I thought it said 15 new hybrids. But anyway. Many TAs are starting to purchase strictly hybrid buses. DART may be one of them.

I think that article states that 15 new hybrid buses. So I believe they are getting 15 new hybrids. As for the current 15. 111-112 are not really new. 113 I dont think still is. 114 can be considered new and 115 as well as 141-150 are new. So if the article is about 15 new hybrid buses then that will make 30 hybrids for DART after they are delivered. I wouldnt be surprised if DART was no longer purchasing straight diesel buses.

Well let's take a look at the entire sentence structure.

The DART bus fleet is going GREEN with 15 new electric hybrid buses. The new hybrid buses, built by the Gillig Corporation of Hayward, California, feature a colorful headliner banner,Powered by Hybrid Electric Technology Doing Our Part For Clean Air.

From reading this, it appears they already have 15 of these buses in their fleet and are using them. I don't know why they waited until now to highlight this, but the article in general talks about their hybrid fleet in general.

This also mean that 149-150 are now being used as well.

DART probably will not need new buses again until either 2011 when the 99 Gilligs are old enough they can replace. Or if they decide to add extra buses to the fleet.

Yeah, here's a picture, taken by ctrabs74, that has the "colorful banner". It looks kinda nice:

I suspect they are a new group of 15 hybrids. After all, there are still some Phantoms in the fleet that are going to be on the way out soon....
