Here's a You Tube video of the two Gilligs and a 1996 Orion V, powered by the DD50G.

I really want to go up there. Too bad the system is overflowing with New Flyers, though.

I grew up around here and so, it's my favorite system - but not just because of that. It's way ahead of a lot of other systems because of the affluence of the region and subsidies it gets from the University. Buses are clean and the equipment is kept up to date, 99.9% CNG and they have a Hydrogen Hybrid vehicle. They just introduced real-time tracking and scheduling. and I kind of like the haunchy-looking New Flyers, it's refreshing to see something other than an entire fleet of Phantoms (WB, Scranton, York etc.). Way better than what I moved to in Scranton. Anyway, here's some pics since there are none in the gallery.

Gillig again - they have two for training, and two more they use rarely for tripper or fill in service, but as an earlier post said they're getting 10 used 35' New Flyers in January.

The Hybrid drive, test vehicle in partnership with the University.

They actually just re-branded themselves and got a new logo which they're beginning to phase in as they repaint, but as I don't live there anymore and didn't have a camera I missed the only one I saw last weekend. I'll try to get some later.

Wow, they have a new logo out now? Did they do something with the scheme as well?

Anyway, those are great pics. If you have any more, I'd be happy to create a CATA gallery. Also, we'd love pics from the Scranton/Wilkes Barre area. Did Scranton's COLTS ever update their scheme?

Thanks very much for the information and the pics

Yeah, you can check out the logo on their website (revamped too) catabus.org, though the scheme is exactly the same - were the Orange italicized letters CATA are, is now the new logo as it appears on the site:

Alot of the pics I have are silly as I was just trying to get a fleet list together last summer (alot are pictures of my driver side mirror, but I can send you them anyway and you can pick and choose.

I don't have any pics of Scranton, though as I just posted in the LTS forum COLTS has updated their scheme, and bought new equipment though I don't know how much yet.

As you can tell, they did what alot of systems are now doing which is micro branding specific services - CATAbus, CATAride, CATAcommute, etc. Actually, they used to do that with their rideguide (booklet of services, advertising, route maps) which was called the CATAlog, which I always though was cute if not silly.

Welcome to the PTV Board, Helman700! Glad to see the diversity of the buses in your system. Picture #6 looks like a transition-age post-modern style vehicle, and the gillig in picture #4 looks like an el dorado/metrotranz combo. nice pix! Keep up the good work. :)

Actually, CATA #97 is an ElDorado EZ-Rider CNG, similar to the buses used in the Phoenix area. I didn't realize that CATA had bought new buses recently. IIRC, the new New Flyers you were referencing earlier in this thread were ex-Orlando LYNX buses that were used on the Downtown LYMMO service...

Hmm, I looked on some rosters, and they mark 94-99 as 2002 C40LFs, rather than E-Z Riders. Is it possible that the E-Z Riders are 2002 models? They have been around for a while, anyway.

Also, according to Wikipedia, the ex-LYNX C35LFs have replaced the Gillig Phantoms. :(

CATA just received 10 of Lynx's 35 foot CNG New Flyers which have replaced the Gilligs. I will try to get some pictures, they have a slightly different paint scheme. They also traded two of the 35 foot buses for two 40 foot new flyers from Indiana, Pennsylvania I believe. They are currently maroon and have not been painted or seen service yet.

CATA's bus roster is as follows:

2-3: Ford Cutaway CNG buses
38-47: 35 Foot Low Floor CNG New Flyers from Lynx
48-49: 35 Foot Low Floor CNG New Flyers from York Transit
50-65: 40 Foot Orion CNG Buses
66-77: 35 Foot Low Floor New Flyers CNG Buses (Note: 48, 49, 66-73 have all received overhauls and now have orange led destinations signs and rear destination signs)
78-83: 40 Foot Low Floor New Flyer CNG Buses
84-93: 40 Foot Low Floor New Flyer CNG Buses
94-97: 30 Foot Low floor Eldorado CNG Buses

The Gilligs that operated last year were #26-31
