Thats what I thought but they must have been late arriving. Or scheduled in 2009 instead of 2008. |

But DART had bus Number 271-272 and Bus 273 are in Dover. Those three buses 271-273 were arrving since Nov. or December 2008 before the New Hybrid buses. Yesterday I went down to Dover and they had only Gillig 30th foot buses of 260-273, I asked one of the drivers and they toll me there is no group of bus 249-259, Dover need about 25 more buses (274-301) to replace of the 600s series. So those buses in the bus yard are going to Dover over next 5 weeks. |

So basically the roster which I've used your information is overstated as to how many buses there really are.. BTW just a tip, don't always listen to what the drivers/rumors that's been going on around the shop. Also what exactly is your involvement with DART? Maybe you should contact someone higher up who actually knows their operations to get a good idea what exactly Dart is purchasing. |

Drivers are not always completely accurate about new bus purchases. When Rabbit Transit got their 05 Gillig Phantoms. Most operators said it was 7 new buses. One operator thought it was 8. And turns out. It was 6. In Harrisburg when their 2600 Series Gilligs arrived. I was informed by one operator they were getting 22 Gillig Advantage 40102s. Another operator said the same with 3-4 of them as commuter coaches. And it turns out. The total order came out to 25 with 6 suburban and 19 transit models. So if you want to know about the new buses you can always feel free to contact the DART and ask them. |

Well That's pretty much reliable information there. Considering they were only off by 2 or 3 at the most. |

Compiled from DelDOT's Capital Program (which includes DART First State): New Castle 1 30 ft LF for service expansion on Route 55 (FY 09) 2 40 ft OTR for service expansion on Del. 141 (FY 11) 3 30 ft LF for service expansion on Middletown Connector (FY 10) - I'm guessing this is the Route 43 bus 3 40 ft LF for service expansion on the US 301/Del. 896 corridor (FY 10) 4 45 ft OTR for replacement of buses on Route 301 (1 in FY 09/3 in FY 12) 2 30 ft LF to replace the Champion buses (FY 09) 7 40 ft LF to replace the Gillig 101-107 series (FY 12-13) 63 40 ft LF to replace the NABIs (FY 14) Refurbish the propulsion systems on the first two Gillig Hybrids (111-112) (FY 11) 5 30 ft LF to replace cutaways (I'm guessing for the 62/63/64 services operated by Krap(f)s) (FY 09) 10 40 ft LF to replace the 1996 Gillig Phantoms (456-465) (FY 09) 6 45 ft OTR to replace the existing MCI fleet (FY 12) Kent 4 30 ft LF for expansion in the Dover-Smyrna-Cheswold corridor (FY 11) 8 30 ft LF for replacement of Champions (FY 09) Sussex 1 30 ft LF for expansion on the inter-county Route 303 (FY 10) 4 30 ft LF for expansion of Sussex local service (FY 10-11) 2 30 ft LF to replace cutaways (FY 09) 22 30 ft LF to replace the Champions (FY 10) 5 30 ft to replace the Champions (FY 09) The actual documents referred to "MD" (Medium Duty) buses, so I'm guessing that they are referring to the Champion buses (the worst buses in the tri-state area not including SEPTA's Chumps). By my count, at least according to the DelDOT documents, I count 37 30-ft low floor buses to replace the Medium Duty (read: Champion) buses. At first, I'm a little surprised that 27 buses are being allocated to Sussex, but I guess that the Beach Bus summer service requires that many buses. That leads me to think that the Champions operated by DART were numbered 601-637 at a bare minimum. |

Thank you Creighton, now we know what is projected to come to their fleet within the next several years. I wonder if their fiscal year is based on the calendar year, or Mid-year, if so we can rule out all FY09 purchases as already accounted for in the fleet. |
