I am getting word that the buses have been sent to germantown for storage and that they are going to be sold they don't fit into septa big picture not suitable for heavy transit use and frontier has most of victory's eldogs to replace them.

Sigh...the Champions were much better suited for the service than the Fords that SEPTA/Krapfs insists on running.

I'm really curious about this, because this doesn't make sense. The buses I rode, as rocky as they are, weren't falling apart. Did something come up during the overhaul? They really only had 2 more years to go...in fact, if they get rid of them now, they'd have to pay back the FTA, as they are 7 year Altoona Tested...provided they were purchased with federal funds.

But Front5151, your word is correct; Frontier is devoid of the Champions, and they've been replaced by Victory's junky Dorados. I saw 4551 on the 129 today as well as 4546 on another route. I also saw 4556 parked at the Philadelphia Interchange of the PA Turnpike...for about 2 hours. I dunno what's going on with that bus, but it has been a Frontier for a while now.

Good riddance to the Frontier Chumps... I won't miss them on the 92 (unfortunately, I'm stuck with them on the 314).

It'll be interesting to see what happens when the Chumps are eventually pulled from the contractor routes...

That's great.

Still, the number of small buses @ Frontier seems to balance out with the number of 40 footers.

Improvement is needed. Needed to the point where Frontier doesn't have any small buses.

If SEPTA doesn't want the Champions, then send them over to Bur-Link over here in NJ. This system needs some type of REAL buses, not those GOD-AWFUL Blue-Birds and those para-transit vehicles that have all the comfort of riding the back of a pick-up truck. Maybe they could increase ridership with some better-looking buses.

SEPTA just can not sell them off like that. Cornwell Heights need them and the contracted routes up in Paoli. Why even overhaul them when they might be sold. Plus Germantown should just keep them for the 310, and some LUCY runs. Hell, give the 35 to germantown and they can run with the Champs.

I'm thrilled they are gone as a frontier operator. They had exhaust leaks and were a pain when it came to picking up a wheelchair no knelling funcution either. Guess for me its memories and my key I still have

I ASSURE you that the 310 needs buses bigger than the Champions. If you ever see rush hour 310 buses, particularly the 8:29 AM run from Willow Grove Mall (starts from the station) and the bus that pulls into Willow Grove around 5:20-ish, you will see what I mean.

The 35 should be a G-town route...I imagine the union issues prevail in this case, though....

Which is why that will never happen, even though they're both part of TWU 234.
