Some questions about the the SEPTA fleet to ponder.............

1] Why are the destination signs on the NABI's do not have "Tri-State Mall" and the 115 extension to the Airport programmed? The NABI's either go blank or in the case of the 113, it says "Marcus Hook". One NABI had a "Chester via Darby" on its destination as the bus arrived at Tri-State Mall this afternoon.

2] Why is "Tri-State Mall" misspelled on the side destination signs on the Flyers?

3] Why is there a FLIP-DOT sign on the rear of 5601H instead of a LED sign?

4] Why do the automated announcement still mention the 12 at 23rd and Chestnut? The 12 hasn't ran by that intersection in the last decade.

5] I noticed that some BSS cars has the announcement systems and the OLD door chimes. Why doesn't SEPTA get rid of the Asian-sounding "Doors Closing" announcement, and restore the old door chimes [BTW, how about adding those chimes to the MFSE?].

Well to answer #1 and #2 it appears SEPTA has a few lazy programmers doing the reprogramming of the designation signs. I can understand about now getting the voice announcements programmed in, but the lazy programming of the designations needs to be fixed. I also noticed that the new 115 isn't programmed into the controller either, I guess SEPTA doesn't want to deal with the aged buses of the fleet.

Could this be the back sign that was used on the 35ft neos back in the day?

I wouldn't be surprised if SEPTA downgraded.

The rear signs of the Neoplan buses (3122-3131) were Luminator MAX (not sure of the exact name offhand); the rear sign of 5601H would probably be the TwinVision LEDot.

The rear sign of 5601H is indeed a LeDot, and more likely the LED sign on 5601H burned out or had some kind of complication. I thought this was pretty self explanatory!!!!!!!!!!! Well when i saw it the sign wasn't working properly anyways so blah who cares!

5601 has a flip dot because the old one burned out and the only thing from the neos u will still see is the rear plates i learn from the blocker that the neos are still on file and septa reuse the plates so if u see a new hybrid with a banged up plate its from a old neo or nabi and also 8042 is gone from fire but the plate is still listed on file thats why the bus number show up in the bus manifest and with all the buses being swithed around most a -cards dont have certain routes programed like some of are nabis at southern still dont have columbus common programed so we just keep lank hospital up or brook sta oh and some flyers we got still call the 64 out at federal and at ellsworth

I think you ment 8046, not 8042. 8046 was in a very serious fire late last year.

I guess the issue with 5601 is the same thing that messed up the block display on 7101. so they mst've switch'd things up.

Additionally, the 35ft Neos never had rear signs....

Sign still doesn't work - at least, not when I saw it last month.

I just wonder WHERE that sign came from. If from TwinVision, why a flip LEDot rather that an LED sign.

Ah well.

4] It seems like SEPTA just doesn't update announcements...at least for Midvale and perhaps Callowhill. After all, L buses (of all vintages) still announce at Plymouth Meeting Mall connections to route 27, 95, 97, and 98. So much for the 90 and 150, not to mention that the 97 stopped running to the mall 10 years ago!

5] We are in the 21st Century now, so now it's the "thing" to do - have people announce doors closing. Now, i find it VERY interesting that the BSS car has both the new announcements and the old chime (yay!). Do you know any of the numbers so I can look out for them?

More likely in stock or pulled off of an Eldorado block sign. Well like I said the sign doesnt display right anyways so its pretty useless.
