It looks like the bugs [NABI's] are coming south to NJ. According to CTrabs74 post #89 in the NJT forum, one NABI [5304] is here at Washington Twp. garage for training purposes, and the rest of the garages allotment is due in August [5308-50]. Better get downtown or to Camden to get those Flxible shots NOW as these 21-year-old veterans will be heading STRAIGHT TO THE SCRAP HEAP! |

I've never rode a NJT bus in North Jersey before. Do they get preferential treatment as opposed to the south? |

I think they do since some routes serve the NYC area. |

Allegedly their maintenance is better up there than down here, especially better than our Washington Township depot. Plus they generally get all the new/good stuff up there before we do. More rail lines, better network of routes, etc... |

Yes they do. North Jersey gets all of the equipment first, South Jersey gets hand-me-downs or is last in line for new equipment. Sometimes certain equipment never gets down here [example: the 3500 series 102" Flx Metro-B's.]. Until recently, you never would have seen a D4500 down south [Egg Harbor now has 20 D4500's]. North Jersey gets preferential treatment because most of their routes serve NYC and that is where the high ridership is. |

NJT's Volvo B 10ms & their Neo artics come to my mind as equipment that never made it down south. If they ever made it into South Jersey, the 400 &/or 409 would be my choice for the artics. |

Has anyone been in Center City over the past couple of weeks? I was just wondering if anyone had a chance to see if there were any NJT NABIs filtering in. It's been a couple of weeks since the last update, and I'm wondering if there's anything new. |

The only NABIs I have seen in Center City, are the ones SEPTA runs [and even they are becoming a rare sight downtown!]. |

From what was posted on the TTMG.ORG forums, the NABIs are having a hoist of problems. One major issue is there's a rumor going around that they only get One Mile per gallon. |

Indeed. Midvale seems to assign their New Flyers & hybrids to the C, 2, 23, 32, 47, 57 & 61(as well as 62) as if they grew off a tree. |

As for the NABIs having one mile to the gallon, this won't work on the North jersey/New York routes. They'll be fresh out of gas in the tunnel. |

I read these NABIs have CAT C13 engines. I dont know why if thats the case. To me an engine such as the ISL or ISM would be a better choice then the C13 for a transit bus. |

According to TTMG, a Newton Ave driver spotted 5201 in the garage. We might see an NJT NABI come over the bridge one way soon. |
