Yes, you are right. Maybe its just here that people can't stop to read a destination sign or pay attention when a bus is going by. The bus or trolley could say "NOT IN SERVICE" and people still run for it. All they see is a transit vehicle with a SEPTA logo and they going chasing after it. Sad, but true...
It's not just here.

I travel the NE Corridor between Newark, NJ and Philly almost daily. And every day, I see NJ Transit trains pull in, and hear (and have been asked by) people who want to know "Is this the train to Baltimore?" or wherever?

And it happens in reverse too: I once rode a Regional and witnessed a passenger get quite upset when the train blew right through Rahway. Yep, he jumped on an Amtrak with an NJT ticket to Rahway. Good thing we had a stop in Metropark coming up, so he had a quick turnaround.

It's bad when a TOURIST (notice I said tourist and not transit fan from out of town) can catch a public bus better than a local can. I see it all the time on different routes.

Hopefully, this will instill the factt hat geography needs to be taught in some aspect in every grade level from elementary school to high school adn it needs to be a part of standardized test..but we'll save that for later.
Oh yes, I've directed people from different cities. Heck, in Pheonix, someone asked me if the light rail train I was on was going downtown. Now, keep in mind that I just went to downtown Phoenix for the first time that day. Fortunately, I was just leaving the downtown area, so I was able to say "no".

Later, another person asked me if there was a supermarket around "here". I had no idea, that was the first time I got off the train at that location!

One SEPTA cashier shook her head when someone was going to buy tokens. The person wanted 3 tokens, the cashier said they only sell them in packs of 2 or 5. The person said, "I can't get 3 tokens?" The cashier replied (after a short mildly frustrated pause) "no, you only get them in 2 or 5."

After the person walked away grumbling about how "greedy" SEPTA is, the cashier told me how we need to improve our schools; she has no time for ignorance.

Philadelphia is a pretty rude city. People expect people knows as much as they do, or think people are insanely stupid. Common Courtesy is slowly being a rarity these days.

...People don't know the difference between City Line and City Avenue...
for this we could easily put the blame on someone else, all the Media (including SEPTA bus stop announcements) have called "City Avenue" City LINE Avenue or just plain City Line... i'm not saying that it happens often (even though it does) but it is a possible cause as to why People get them confused...

Also, the rennovations are beginning, the 101 and 102 are now the latest additions to the Green lines, and the 100 is now the Norristown High Speed Line, the signs at 69th St Terminal are being replaced now....

the worst part is: only some of those signs were updated, there are still some signs that say "Route 100 ^" so people won't know what to look for. They shoulda did it all at one time...

One thing that should be remembered is that street names are being changed all of the time to commemorate famous people from history. Take for instance, Columbus Blvd., this street is still commonly referred to as Delaware Avenue.

City Line Avenue was the original name of the roadway and was named such as it served as the city boundary line. I am unsure why the name was shortened, but many people in the area still refer to this roadway using the word "line" in the middle. Island Avenue, in Southwest, is another one, growing up there we all knew it as Island Road.

I thought it was called Delaware Av, and that the only part of it that was called "Columbus Blvd" was near Pier 70, i know what you're talking about too, but i haven't heard anyone refer to CB Moore as Columbia ever... however there are still some old BSL maps around that say Columbia instead of CB Moore

Sorry to say, I feel the sign color change on the 101-102 has made the system way more clinical! I just do not agree with that change!
