Guys, just found out from a very reliable source that a handful of 2004 New Flyers D40LFs are currently in the process of being overhauled. The worst buses of the 2004 fleet were hoisted out of service to undergo this overhaul. So by months end, be on the look out for these buses... |

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feared this day since 2007 (about freakin time tho) when i first heard the hideousness of 5633, i hope that the ZF-ers don't end up sounding like those (or 5724 from the exterior) |

I did see 5737 today on the 26..... For 2 months now I have been thinking of 5739. Haven't seen this bus in ages. I have a feeling 5739 will be one of those buses with a cummins very soon. Keep on the look out for it. |

I will miss the ZF sounds on the 18/26 as I rest at night. Why don't they overhaul them to be like the 8000s? they are Cummins speed bombs AND they retain that awesome ghostly ZF sound. |

I'm confused, wouldn't the overhaul Zfers sound exactly like the 8000 series? they will retain the zf sound just like 5724...

Oh, I thought they would put Allisons in them, which would RUIN them. I'm glad they will keep the ZF. otherwise I would be mad because there are so many '04s in the city and suburbs. (except at Comly). Other than that, I love the Cummins idea. It would be more fun to ride speedy ZFers on the 98 or 105! |

From the inside, it sounds like an 8000 sure, but from the outside it sounds like a wannabe Eldorado :X :X :X :X :X I don't want that :( |

Is it just me, or are the Cummins engines on the 5600-series overhauls louder and throatier than the 8000's? Gonna be interesting in New Flyer D40LF engine variety.... DD50/Allison (5401-5600) Cummins/Allison (5613-5712) Cummins/ZF (8000-8119 and soon to be 5713-5830 and later 5851-5950) DD50/ZF (currently 5713-5830 and 5851-5950 until overhaul) |

Meaning the 2004 New Flyers that released a lot of emissions needs to have its original engine replaced with Cummins ISL to make it cleaner and environmental friendly. |

Yea Cummins ISL 290 HP. Zf Ecomat 6 speed transmission just like with the 8000 series!! Well I feel sad in a well, but atleast it's replacement is worthy, though. Edited by Van2006ko, Jul 10 2009, 05:19 PM.

it appeared to me that 5700 is overhauled. saw it today on the 23. outside led door lights. looks like a fresh new paint job, streetside rear vent/door/hatch changed, curb side rear vent now white (not black - looks like the 5401-5600's now) and sounds much like a repowered 5600 series |

5700 is a 2003 New Flyer. It was overhauled last year. |
