http://monumentalcity.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=55008#55008 2 pics were taken of MTAs 09001. Its the same design as the 06000 Series except with the low profile roof cap as well as tip in windows. And the rear door is different but no right side pics were taken at this point. So I dont know if its the same width or if its the same width as SEPTAs New Flyer rear doors. And also a new color scheme with no black exterior window panes. |

those buses look cool except that i think rear AC only looks good in an RTS bus, but SEPTAs 2002-4 hybrids have them and they look acceptable... just as long as there's a cover on it with small vent openings (i dunno how to explain it) |

I hope the rear door on that bus is the same width as SEPTAs and not the same width as the DE60LFRs rear door is. I do know its suppose to be the electronic push bar. |

Its the rear door where when the green light comes on. You have to press the yellow handle on the rear door and when you do it opens as soon as you press the button. The fleet from 2006 and older has the rear door that involves pushing the door outwards to open and you have to hold it for the person behind you and that is pain. The automatic push bar all you do is press the handle bar and it opens automatically. SEPTA is mainly a fleet of automatic rear doors but I dont see Baltimore MTA having the fully automatic rear door any time soon. Also it does appear newer New Flyer DE40LF(R)s look like they are 41ft instead of 40ft. SEPTAs DE40LFs from 08 and up look 41ft and so does Bmore MTAs 09001. Hopefully the interior of Bmore MTAs 09001-09100 are the same length as the interior on the D40LFs.

I think New Flyer made a spec change in 2007 with the 40ft hybrid coach. From looking at the pics of Bmore MTAs 6003 compared to the 2 pics of 9001 it appears 9001 is longer then 6003. So chances are the 09000s are longer then the 06000s. Maybe even the same length as the D40LFs. |

Doesn't the MTA's NFI D40LF's have the ISM in those buses? If so, they are the same length. |

It is not that complicated. Now I think the invention os the motion sensors (which will replace touch bars/touch strips in the future) will be used in a lot of TA's. But I like the new scheme. And rear A/C's look good on New Flyers, they always have. |

According to New Flyers specifications. The Overbody length extends 7" with Cummins ISM. That has nothing to do with the interior length. Only the exterior. Plus Baltimore MTAs D40LFs look longer many times then SEPTAs D40LFs. And SEPTAs D40LFs have either DDC Series 50 and Cummins ISL. |

First they got the 60ft Sharks, now MTA Maryland got Slugs too? With rear HVAC? Kinda reminds me of SEPTA's Camels they have in South Philly. Mix a Camel with a Slug= the best set of buses MTA Maryland has ever had in years since the Flexes (Flxibles) came to them in '88 |

MTA purchased 10 DE40LFRs in 2006 as a hybrid demo order. With high profile roof caps. SEPTA purposely made their hybrids as slow as they are. And Baltimores 09 DE60LFRs are fast from what Ive seen. Hopefully the next DE40LFRs will be as well. This order is technically piggybacked off of WMATA but with WMATAs all being DE42LFA BRTs and MTAs being DE40LFRs the model of the coaches are different. Which I cannot see how the DE40LFR can be piggybacked off of a DE42LFA BRT order. I can see the DE40LFR piggybacked off of the DE40LF. Since they are the same except the end caps and MTA piggybacked their DE60LFRs off of Seattle Washington.

Wow. I did'nt know that Metro had some DE42LFAs. One one video on YOUTube, the new Capital Flyers (the DE42s) look pretty nice. |

As long as John Catoe is incharge of WMATA all they will be purchasing is BRTs. I do hope both WMATA and Bmore MTA try out the Xcelsior in 2011. |

The reason Baltimore MTAs 09 New Flyer hybrids are the DE40LFR instead of the DE42LFA is because Baltimore does not have the lanes or the depot space for the DE42LFA so as the result Baltimore MTAs piggyback off of WMATA is the DE40LFR. I do wish WMATA got DE40LFRs so the order would be piggybacked. The only differences would only be the tail lights, exterior mirrors, windows, rear door, interior colors, as well as some differences with the drivers areas. Hopefully in 2011 John Catoe and Paul Weidefeld will look into the Xcelsior. Since I cannot see how the DE40LFR can piggyback off of the DE42LFA but I can see how the DE60LFR can piggyback off the DE60LF. |
