My mother was on the trolley behind the one that hit a person in Clufton Heights. The person was struck on the tracks between the Baltimore Pike and Oakview stations. Her trolley operator didn't even know about it and started proceeding down the tracks when police pounded on the windows for him to stop. At that point a fire truck went down the opposite track. No shuttle buses ever arrived and trollies were cleared to move again at 8:30 AM. Way to let your drivers know what's going on SEPTA.

Trolley Strikes
Pedestrian In Delco
CLIFTON HEIGHTS, Pa. - One person was taken to a hospital Wednesday morning after being struck by a trolley in Clifton Heights.

SEPTA's Route 102 trolley was the one involved in the incident, which occurred at 7:55 a.m. at the intersection of Baltimore Avenue and Glenwood Street in Clifton Heights.

A SEPTA spokesperson reported that the person's injuries are believed to be minor.

SEPTA said it was shuttle-busing along the trolley route from 69th Street to Drexel Hill junction due to the police activity. Passengers should expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

That may be a chargeable accident. No more driving SEPTA vehicles for him or her.

Very doubtful........it happened in between two stations in a wooded area where the trollies can pick up speed and there is a curve.

As a fellow septa employee at victory district i knew the girl who hit the woman she is my friend and has not been back to work since it happened but she will be back and out of respect for her i will not post what her name is so please don't anyone ask anything about her. and the accident was considered unchargeable because it was not at fault of the operator because the person struck was trespassing.

Just for my own curiosity, was the strike on the trestle itself? 'Cause that thing is a magnet for kids to walk along and hang out.

That's exactly shorter when I was growing up. Shuttle runs right down my parents street....just like when I was growing up. Only part I can't figure is why they are not running both ways on Woodland Ave. Always use to before. It is a 2 block walk from the stations to Clifton Ave.

I'm wondering the dame thing, the trolleys go both ways on Woodlawn Ave., so why can't the buses?

My guess is they are replacing the rail along the trolley line and equipment may be blocking the street lane next to the trolley. My other guess is that the bus shelter for the MacDadke Blvd stop is actually after you cross the tracks. In the past the buses turned onto Woodland Ave and stopped next to the station. However there is a ditch right there so may be it is for safety reasons for passengers getting on and off.

Thanks for the explanation and analysis, makes sense to me.
I plan to ride the shuttle bus one of these days, looks interesting.
