And up in the New York area, Metro-North and LIRR fans are nodding in sympathy with us. For between 1968 and 1972 when the M1 and M1a commuter cars (and their successive descendants M2 through M7) started the current look of New York commuting, people there said the same thing: OMG these look more like subway cars!!! |

Who are you referring to? I know people better by their actual names, rather than their usernames. I brought it up at last week's meeting, and it was confirmed by our President (P. Dawson) that we would be entitled to everything the CAC has access to, more specifically we'd be allowed to attend (along with the CAC) the tour of the Rotem plant. If you want any more proof, I spoke with the Chairman of the CAC Railroad Division Subcommittee, (R. Clearfield) who also approved of us coming along. |

Amgkid874's name is ******. Mod note: PM that information - this is a public board, after all, and that's personal information that only ****** is supposed to reveal if he wants to. Thanks! Edited by Tritransit Area, Oct 27 2009, 08:10 AM.

Scotty and Mike, Cool down!! Well I'm glad one of you guys are taking a tour around the plant. Hopefully you'll take some photos and write a brief report on how things are at the plant. |

**pours cold water on self, followed by LOUD hissing** So...I say...does anyone know where they have train roadeos? I would figure they'd have one for the S-Vs. And...uh...is there such thing as a train roadeo? Edited by buswizard, Oct 28 2009, 05:19 PM.

Rail Roadeo, it was held in early September IIRC. It's held at different rail storage facilities each year. |

Approximately another 12-18 months. The end of the year the pilots arrive and then Operations have to study them extensively, up to and possibly including a trip to the FRA's testing center in Colorado (Ironically enough, they should be there at the same time as NJT's ALP45DP and ALP46A, MBTA's and Metrolink's Bi's from ROTEM). Once operations is done studying it in the shop, then managers will test it on the Main and Neshaminy lines for braking and propulsion, followed by clearance testing on all lines while crews are trained up and qualified on them (SilverlinerII can better explain the equipment qualification procedures but for a regular Engineer and Conductor its 10 full days of both in class and control testing - I'm betting it'll be longer since its NEW). Once enough cars are accepted and enough crews are certified, then the cars will be released to specific controlled runs for real world testing for several more months. |
