One of my pals on the 32 who told me that he got a letter from TWU 234 mentioned that they are going to vote to strike on the 11th of next month and possibly walk off of the job if SEPTA messes up big time. I will get anymore info in regards to this if it becomes available like deadline date, etc but lets hope this doesn't become a reality.

Did they every hold a strike vote? I would imagine one would be forthcoming if it hasn't happened yet...

Martin who is a former Allegheny operator who went to Midvale with the 32 and one of my contacts from Midvale told me this and he said October 11th is the date that they are going to vote on whether to strike or not. If the strike card is played they we are in for alot of trouble the city doesn't need this strike especially with their own budget woes at stake if people don't have a ride to and from work. I have came up with my own plan in the event this strike becomes a reality and that is ride a bike to work until the 32 and 9 are restored.

Why not bike to work anyway? It'll be a great way to exercise, go green, and such.

The bike idea ain't bad but some people dont have bikes and people can barely pay bus fare Via Tokens or Transfers buying week after week or day by day

I can't bike to college!! That's a hell of a hill near it, not to mention several other hills along the way.

Not to mention the Wissahickon Creek Valley/Forbidden Drive, or my preferred: City Avenue to School House to Germantown and climb climb climb!!!!

*Germantown Avenue is mostly uphill from Berkley Street by WJECS all the way to Bethehem Pike. Its about 3% for almost 5 miles.

Wow, I never thought of it that way, Nolan but I agree 100%. Chestnut Hill must be way high above sea level. I mean, if it was downhill or level, then it would've been Chestnut Valley or Chestnut Plain. Once you pass Barren Hill, it's downhill all the way to Plimmith Meeting.
BTW I could easily use my scooter to go to school but I could get robbed in Allegheny territory.

LOL, my post really was directed towards CVP19 since that's his alternative to the 32 and 9, but thanks for your comments!

However, it'd be great if people in this city really made an effort to bike and ride when possible. We could even make the case to have provisions for bike racks on rail cars if there was enough interest. It's amazing how many people ride bikes in the Phoenix area. Of course, outside of the mountains, the land seems to be flat for the most part.

The ride on the inbound trips on route L that come from Plymouth Mall & Germantown & Northwestern Avenues consists of a hill that runs along Germantown Avenue, from Hampton Road up to Laughlin Lane. The climb is especially notable along Germantown & Sunset Avenues. Waterman Avenue can be a bit dicey.

The hill which I'm referring to is on Germantown OK, starts at Chestnuthill college and continues up to the loop where the 23 runs at!! 1 mile of a pretty steep hill.
