Time for me to get up at 4:30 and catch the Trenton bound R7 to Suburban and walk down 16th to get to CCP. I'm not supporting TWU. I'm suporting the drivers. Feels like on weekends, I want to go to another state or city where things aren't stopped 'cause of Union tantrums.
I'm with you on supporting the workers but the good news is that Willie Brown and his goons have been behaving themselves and so has Richard Manoley and his crew too. Let's just cross our fingers that we have that contract this weekend other wise Bob Brady, Michael Nutter and Ed Rendell will be on their cases for calling out a strike.
I'm a little slow here, but what's the differences between TWU and the Drivers? The drivers are members of the union!!

Well I support the citizens who are struggling trying to make ends meet!!
Just because the drivers are part of the union doesn't mean that they like striking in other words the only members of the union/SEPTA I trust are the drivers and other workers not the union leaders, union president, the SEPTA management and the board. I only supported the last strike because of SEPTA's threats to cut service they are like the union that threaten to strike but expect they try and cut service and try to layoff its workers. Van2006ko as I said even though the drivers are part of the union they are the victims just as the public are too and in my opinion the union like SEPTA do not care about its members and the public.
The drivers/union members are the ones who voted for the Strike! After living in Philadelphia for 25 years, transit striking is a pretty common occurrence!! Times are tough and people are trying to make ends meet. Honestly do you really think if the TWU gets their way that the fares/service will remain the same? In these tough times, something has to give, well its time for them to give for a change!!

As a Philadelphian, I'm tired of the constant pissing matches between SEPTA and the Unions.

Like I said I do not care if they voted for this or not I mean most of the drivers I have met ever since using SEPTA have been nice and friendly and overtime we have been friends too. I'm defending those friends of mine and I agree with you the pissing matches between sides have to stop but at the same time I would want them to have a new contract and no strike.

To moderators and administrators since the strike threat has been adverted and both sides are close to a deal please lock this thread.

I would prefer that this thread be locked only upon confirmation of a contract settlement. Even though the union has called off it's strike threat for now, let's wait until we get official word that there's a contract.

See here you go: "Willie Brown & his goons" vs. "Richard Maloney & his crew too"! You most likely don't work for the Authority & all you care about is getting your jollies off by seeing the company logo & it's operators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've driven trolleys for years with the union president & IF you worked there you would know what kind of guy you have in him as your quarterback!!!!!!!!
