Was just perusing the BARTA site and saw that they are selling the following Orion Is and Phantoms: 9009 - 40 foot Orion I 9014 - 40 foot Orion I 9016 - 40 foot Orion I 9106 - 35 foot Gillig Phantom 9107 - 35 foot Gillig Phantom 9112 - 35 foot Gillig Phantom All buses are powered by the oh so delectable sounding 6v92TA engine, hooked up to an Allison HT-74_ transmission. Beautiful! I'm hoping a bus museum out there can pick one of these up. BARTA has poor historic representation, and the remaining buses are "new age buses", like the Gillig Low Floor, New Flyer D40LFs, Opuses, and of course, the BRTs |

9009 was one of the 35 ft. Orions, but the other two, 9014 and 9016, were 40 ft. models. I think 9110 might also be retired. The last time I saw it at the BTC was on Friday, August 28, 2009, when it did Rt. 61/Hamburg, and it only showed up briefly. |

Whoa! 9110 ran that recently? After I rode BARTA in 2007, I gave up on all hope of finding the Phantoms and Orion Is afterwards. Even at that time, I only saw 1 Orion I, 9007, parked at BTC all day long. Unfortunately, Capitol - er, Beiber Trailways, never really gave me early AM service out there after my first trip, so my fanning was limited to the midday and early PM rush. |

Yeah, I was surprised to see it running after the new hybrids were delivered. I rarely ever saw it at the BTC, though. |
